Is our Intuition enough in this new dating world?
Navigating the online dating world can be exciting! The “Profiles” we see of each person we are potentially interested in, the photos (hopefully recent & not too filtered), the excerpts the person of interests writes about themselves (hopefully honest & sincere), the brave & sometimes unfiltered conversations to be had over the keyboard…
Am I the only one who feels like navigating this new option for dating to be also a little…scary? I grew up in a rough neighborhood, I do have “street smarts” & intuition. I personally love true crime & documentaries…my mother instilled a healthy diligence in reading men & their intentions. (Are they safe? Are they hiding a dangerous side? What are some flags I see here?) Her biggest fear happened to armor me emotionally & use questions like this as my weapons to defend/prepare myself.
I know there are many beautiful love stories that have blossomed from dating online…I also know not only women but men also have had some adverse experiences & wild stories to tell.
MY QUESTION TO YOU BEAUTIFUL READERS:
In this day & age of online dating, is it taking it too far to consider doing background checks on our potential Romeo or Juliete? Or is our personal intuition enough? Or should we learn from the 70’s when all anyone had was intuition & healthy fear, but no resources to check on who they were dating may or may not have had a record? I mean one good example of a handsome serial killer who tricked women to their deaths, Ted Bundy.
As always, my thoughts above are in bold/italic. The question i wish to stir among the creative collective is in bold.
